Competitors in the Hobie Fishing Worlds will gather in the town of Åmål, on the shore of Lake Vänern, which is the third largest lake in Europe. Vänern is home to 38 species of cold and warm-water fish, including monstrous pike. These toothy game fish can easily exceed three feet on Vänern and will be the major target of competitors in this world championship.

Pike won’t be the only species kayak anglers will be on the hunt for though. The rocky coastline, tucked-away bays and scattered islands will also provide anglers with the opportunity to land beautiful perch. Each day of the competition the athletes will cast for the daily target of two pike and three perch, and record length totals via catch, photo and release.

Familiar Faces Competing For A World Title

Eighteen countries will be represented at the 2022 Hobie Fishing Worlds. This will include a collection of US and Canadian athletes well known in the competitive fishing scene.

The US will represent a strong showing on Lake Vänern with nine of the 42 positions in the competition. US anglers include Jordan Marshall, Kristine Fischer, and Eric Siddiqi, among the well-qualified lineup.
