In this fishing tip video, Josh explains the technique of protecting your fishing rod with vinyl tubing. You want to use vinyl tubing when you are using heavy drag, targeting large fish and when your fishing from a pier, boat or bridge. The tube protects your fishing rod from getting scratched and the boat from getting scratched. It’s important to measure the length of the tube from the fore grip of your fishing rod through the first several guides. Attach the tube using zip ties. Make sure that you cut the zip ties as short as possible. After a day of fishing, you must remove the vinyl tube and wash both your fishing rod and the tube. If you don’t remove the tube, you can damage the epoxy finish on your fishing rod.
