Bass Boater Cusses Out Kayak Angler At Tournament (Video)

While fishing in a river tournament, kayak angler and YouTuber Alex Rudd had a nasty run in with some bass boaters.

From his fishing kayak, Rudd is seen filming himself narrating his fishing when he pauses to take in a boat at full throttle whizzing by near him. At first, he does his best to ignore the boat and carry on with his narration.

Just as Rudd narrates that there’s plenty of fish to catch in this area, we hear the bass boater yell back a string of insulting curse words.

Rudd stays calm and for the most part ignores the antagonizers, commenting “That is highly disappointing to say the least.“

According to Rudd’s video, he later found out that the same bass boater buzzed another angler in the kayak tournament by about 15 ft.

This is far from the first time kayak anglers and bass boaters have butted heads. To the bass boater, a kayak angler is sometimes seen as an inconvenient speed bump, basically a hazard in the water. To the kayak angler, the bass boater seems to be often cast as the louder, faster bully ready to run them over like a speed bump, basically a hazard to the water.

Rudd observes that tensions seem to run particularly high in the tournament fishing world, when there are more anglers on the water and higher stakes.

Diffusing tensions between anglers of all watercraft

Still, not all encounters between kayak anglers and bass boaters end badly. On January 28, 2024 Weslie Gray Fishing gave a bass boat a tow from her kayak with the help of a Newport NK180 electric kayak outboard motor after his boat floated off the trailer and into the water without him. According to a video on Gray’s YouTube, she didn’t catch a single fish, but it made her day to help him out.

For Rudd, after experiencing road rage on the waterways, he went on to pull seventh place in the tournament.

“I enjoyed myself. It was a great day to be alive and a great day to go fishing. I just wish everybody would’ve saw it that way,” Rudd concludes his video.
