VLOG5 – Being American Means ___________

A company I work with asked me to make a video asking what Being American Means to me. Actually, they asked me to make a video about an American brand, but in order to get to that, I had to articulate what being American means first. When they asked, I already had a hike scheduled, so during the hike, I asked Outerthere fam if they were down to give me their input.

The question prompted a sincere and meaningful conversation because all but one of the fam is a first or second generation immigrant in the U.S. from another country, and incredibly, some are also second or third generation immigrants in their own countries. Their willingness to share their thoughts and experiences with me on this topic helped me evolve my own thinking – you’ll see the evolution – into my final thoughts.

I want to thank everyone who came out for giving me your perspective. I hope I did justice to our conversation that day.
