In good news for consumers, Canoecopia recently wrapped up its first in-person paddlesports expo since 2019. Among the exhibitors was YakAttack’s John Hipsher, on-site in Madison, Wisconsin to introduce the company’s new line of BlackPak Pro crates. Featuring roomier dimensions, redesigned mounting plates and much more, follow along for all the updates to this much-loved line of kayak fishing crates.

YakAttack Rolls Out New BlackPak Pro

“After selling the original BlackPak for about a decade,” Hipsher says, “we’ve taken really all of the feedback from consumers and this is the final result.” Mounted on a Bonafide P127, he shows off how the medium BlackPak Pro packs more space into the same 13”×16” footprint as the classic model. The new crates are 20–25% lighter and better proportioned to fit standard tackle trays like the Plano 3700 series and Plano Edge.

The front latch has a “really positive feel,” he says, providing peace of mind that your crate is closed in case of a flip. Rubber bumpers and feet make the BlackPak Pro quieter and steadier than its predecessor, while high-quality hinges hold the lid on tight. New GridLoc 2D mounting plates provide attachment points for YakAttack’s planned line of custom-designed accessories.

BlackPak Pro Availability

The medium-sized BlackPak Pro is available for sale starting on April 8, 2022. Large and small models are scheduled to follow in May and June respectively, with prices for the line ranging from $125 to 175. You can find more information in YakAttack’s recent blog post.
