The 4th Annual Fish N Paddle Saltwater Slam kayak fishing tournament in Ocean City, Maryland made history with the first ever cobia caught from a kayak off the Maryland Coast.
John Farrall Stackhouse caught a 46.25-lb cobia along with a 2.55-lb Spanish mackerel for a total stringer weight of 48.80 lbs to secure first place. He won $5,700 and a trip with Robert Field for the “Heaviest Fish” added entry to film an episode in the United States, all expenses paid including airfare worth $5,000.
Second place went to Brian Scharle, who won $2,000 with his stringer weight of 28.05 lbs made up of two stripers and a bluefish.
Third place went to Daniel Son, who won $1,000 with a stringer weight of 16.85 lbs made up of three bluefish.
Fourth place went to Justin Fesler, who won a Lightning Strike kayak with his 15.15-lb stringer made up of a black drum and two sheephead.
To win the top three-fish stringer over two days determines the winner of the Fish N Paddle Saltwater Slam. There are “Heaviest Fish” and daily added entries along with a CCA MD release added entry and a Heroes on the Water “Heaviest Flounder” added entry.
In addition, the “Top Junior Angler” was Alexa Leslie Robinette, who won an NRS inflatable kayak and an NRS Chinook OS PFD.
