If you’re anything like us, hiking and backpacking has changed your life for the better, giving you a chance to connect with nature and with yourself. This holiday season, we’re trying to give back, and we’d like you to join us.
In spring of this year, our parent company, Outside, Inc. launched Find Your Good and partnered with 14 nonprofit organizations that share our mission to get everyone outside in support of a healthy planet. We’re hoping to raise $2,500 for our four partners in the backpacking and outdoor community, each working to bring the joys and health benefits of backpacking to as many people as possible. Pitch in by supporting these four great organizations today.
Outdoorist Oath
Helping people take action for planet, inclusion, and adventure
The goal: $2,500. If we hit it, the Oath will launch Phase 2 of its educational program in 2023, which covers topics such low waste camping, stolen land history, and combating homophobia in the outdoors.
Big City Mountaineers
Providing transformative outdoor experiences that strengthen life skills and build community for youth from disinvested communities
The goal: If we reach $2,500, Big City Mountaineers will be able to take 20 kids out on their first-ever dayhike. Bonus: Smartwool will match what we can raise up to $2,500. So your donation gets automatically doubled!
Earth Guardians
Training and empowering youth to be effective leaders at the intersection of the environmental and climate justice movements
The goal: $2,500. This amount will allow Earth Guardians to bring together 10 youth for a 5-day leadership training. The training includes a visit to a current field project where the students will assess what’s working there, followed by coaching on how they can lead, supervise, and organize actions within their own communities.
Intersectional Environmentalist
Radically imagining a more equitable and diverse future of environmentalism
The goal: $2,500, which would allow Intersectional Environmentalist to host an intimate climate justice concert for 50 people (part of its Earth Sessions program). Earth Sessions create a safe, joyful experience and hold space for an educational discussion, providing a beautiful opportunity to lean into climate optimism, connect with folks in the community, and feel empowered to take action for environmental justice – even after the event ends.
