If you want classical styling with a host of smarts and outstanding battery life, then Huawei’s GT 3 series of watches are well worth a look. They work with both Android and iOS, and though they miss out on stellar app support or wrist-based payments, they look superb and have plenty of features to satisfy most fitness enthusiasts.

The GT 3 Pro, in particular, is a winning mix of premium styling and rich features. In its titanium link band guise, and with its bold, chamfered body, it wouldn’t be out of place matched with a tailored suit, and maybe even a Martini – shaken, not stirred.

With a digital crown and large touch display, navigating through the watch’s interface is a breeze, and we found the wrist twist gesture that fires up the screen worked well. Like the Apple Watch Ultra, the Huawei Watch GT 3 Pro enjoys a hardy sapphire glass-protected fascia, so durability shouldn’t be an issue.

Underwater rating

Since it first launched, the Huawei Watch GT Pro 3 has been upgraded with ECG support, so when factoring in its temperature, heart rate and SpO2 tracking, it matches the Apple Watch relatively head-on from a sensor point of view. And while it doesn’t dive quite as deep as an Apple Watch, rated down to 30m, it should suit most swimmers and casual divers.

Huawei’s watches are the only ones that charge using standard Qi wireless charging. That means if you have a wireless charger for your phone or earbuds, you can quickly power up your watch without needing to remember its charger. It’s a handy feature for anyone who travels.

The Huawei Watch GT 3 Pro also lasts for two weeks on a single charge, outperforming all Apple and Samsung’s smartwatches. And while its third-party app integration isn’t best-in-class, it supports some services including Strava so could suit most needs. For anyone who doesn’t want a rectangular or E Ink display, but wants something smarter than a Withings watch, the Huawei Watch GT 3 Pro Titanium is a smart, stylish timepiece that’s well worth considering.
