Oh, Mikaela, this is just too much. Instead of accepting her flowers for an absolutely historic race career, Shiffrin deflected talk of her being the G.O.A.T. (greatest of all time) this week by saying that discussing that term made her think not of podiums but of cute, frolicking baby animals. Okay, she may not feel like the G.O.A.T., but she’s certainly our Queen. All Hail.
Heroes Save Mt. Baker Skier in Cardiac Arrest
There’s always an element of risk in the mountains, but no one can be prepared for something quite like what Bill Bishop experienced at Mt. Baker Ski Area this February. Mid-run, the 62-year-old went into cardiac arrest, collapsing on the hill. Thankfully, some heads-up passersby came to his aid, alerting ski patrol and giving chest compressions before administering an AED. Ultimately, these steps saved Bishop’s life, and he is expected to recover fully. The longtime skier took the time this week to thank those who helped him through in one of the more uplifting videos you’ll watch this week.

Canadian ski resort for sale for $8.25 million
Hey guys, so, uh, does anyone have a few extra million clam shells lying around? I know these folks up in Canada that are eager to offload 900-plus acres of skiable terrain, 37 runs, and three chairlifts—should we make a wager? Powder King Mountain Resort in northern B.C. went up for sale this week with an asking price of $8.25 million. In addition to all that acreage, the resort also receives over 40 feet of snow a year, making it one of the snowiest ski areas in North America on a consistent basis. Seriously though, who’s in?
Trans skier wins Nor-Am, qualifies for World Cup
A year after a devastating knee injury, 19-year-old Jay Riccomini took first in the Nor-Am Cup slopestyle and big air events at Stoneham Mountain Resort, QC, winning the season title and earning his spot on the World Cup circuit for next year. Riccomini, who identifies as male but must compete in the women’s category, has been a member of the U.S. Ski Team for three years and has been a vocal advocate for LGBTQ+ rights on and off the hill. Sky’s the limit, Jay. Let’s do this.
