You’d think that a line featured in the book “50 Classic Ski Descents of North America” would be, well, a classic. In other words, a renowned line that ski mountaineers the world over would know about.
But as Cody Townsend finds out after polling fellow skiers and Revelstoke locals, that’s not at all the case with the Uber Tour, an epic ski tour that supposedly connects lines on 10,397-foot Mount Rogers in B.C.’s Selkirk range. Not even legendary ski mountaineer Greg Hill has the beta on this mission, and he knows most of the mountain ranges in B.C. like the back of his hand.
Despite this, Townsend, Hill, and fellow big mountain skier and Salomon athlete Emma Patterson embark on an adventure to pick their own way up the north face of Mount Rogers, then link a long descent off the northeast face of adjacent Swiss Peak.
It may not be the exact Uber Tour that the authors of the “50 Classic Ski Descents of North America” intended, but it’s probably close enough and definitely proves to be an epic adventure.
