Last April, Snowboard Mag headed up north of the border to Banff, Alberta to meet up with the Rude Girls. Our goal was to put a handful of snowboards to test at the one-and-only Sunshine Village, a mountain that offers winter conditions late into the spring, making it the perfect place to put a group of all-mountain freestyle decks to the test.

The crew at Rude Girls Shop, a brick and mortar located in the center of Banff, is not only super knowledgeable about snowboard gear, but they’re all deeply rooted in the snowboard community, not only in their local province, but beyond. Abby Furrer, the manager and buyer of the shop, works in concert with her staff and team riders to ensure that Rude Girls is a nucleus of belonging, whether you can make it to the shop and its ride days in person, or you’re a fan and friend from afar.

So when we set out to find a way to really get the low down on how different women’s-specific and genderless boards ride and communicate them to our readers in a way that is informative, engaging, and trustworthy, there was no other group of riders that came to mind to partner with than the staff of Rude Girls. These women know snowboarding, they know snowboarding, and they love to share their knowledge and perspective–when it comes to trying out and relaying info on snowboards, this was the perfect fit.

The featured boards in the 2023 Rude Girls x Snowboard Mag Board Test:
Arbor Cadence Camber
Burton Good Company
Never Summer Harpoon
Rome Muse
Roxy XOXO Pro
Salomon Abstract

Over the next few weeks, we will be dropping videos and stories every Tuesday and Thursday on six of our favorite snowboards from the week at Sunshine. Stay tuned to @snowboardmag and @rudegirlsshop on Instagram to check out these freestyle decks to learn which excel in the park, which are great for top-to-bottom laps, and which are all-mountain quiver killers; all the info you need from trusted voices in snowboarding if you’re considering a new board this winter.
