When it comes to compression, 2XU’s training and recovery gear is generally a cut above the competition. And this lightweight, technical top is no exception.
The long-sleeve Core Compression has a tighter fit than most of the base layers on test, for higher levels of compression, though it does use a thicker fabric than most dedicated compression tops. But that compressive fit does help boost circulation for improved recovery and reduced muscle stiffness post-exercise.
Despite its name, it’s not just about compression with the 2XU. This top is excellent for layering in warmth without getting too hot, thanks in part to vent panels on the back and under the arms, which boost breathability and improve air flow.

Raglan sleeves – continuous fabric from the collar into the arms – provide good, unrestricted movement. Elasticated waist and sleeves ensure it stays however vigorous your session. This construction makes it suitable for all kinds of workouts, both indoors or outdoors, whether you looking for warmth, protection or support. It’s excellent for running, cycling and any outdoor endurance efforts. And it keeps on working long after you’ve stopped.
The flatlock seams reduce the risk of chafing, its close fit offers noticeable muscle support and the breathable fabric helps regulate your core temperature. If you wear a chest-strap that tight fit will help keep it in place too.
There’s reflective detail in the form of a large ‘X’ logo on one sleeve for extra night-time visibility if you’re not layering up. It only comes in black but there are six sizes from XS to XXL as well as short-sleeve and sleeveless options, too.
