VLOG6 – I DIDN’T GET THE JOB (ALTERNATE ENDING)

This was a tough vlog to edit. On top of rejecting me, I was asked not to upload any of the footage of any of their hikers. I was tight, son!

For days after, I recorded myself retelling this entire story at least 10 times, trying to figure out what happened. But every time I told my side, I felt like it wasn’t right. Like I was being a little b_____ for feeling rejected, disrespected, whatever.

A month after my “training” hike with the “clients”, I went on a hike with Outerthere fam. In between, I had gone on 3 other trips. On each trip leading up to the hike, I started to understand something different. Something that made me feel better. But I still couldn’t get my words right.

What I’ve come to realize is that Outerthere has become a community of people who respect each other, who value each other’s ideas, and sincerely appreciate each other’s company. In all the years I’ve been going out on group trips, this is what I’ve always felt was missing. And somehow, without any planning, it just happened with Outerthere.

I want this vlog to serve as a reminder and commitment to always stay true to this spirit of respect and diversity. Thank you to all the fam – and two different boyscout troops I met on both hikes, as if it were a sign, and supported this channel along the way! – who helped shape these ideas and who’ve let me put them on camera so I can explain myself better.

P.S. This is the “alternate ending” because Anna said that the first version of this left her hanging, that it didn’t give the viewer the right closure. I hope this version explains it better.
