East Change-y – The other reason east coast skiing and snowboarding changed in 2020

The 2019-2020 season was our 8th season and we were super excited to get hit the slopes again. We started off by visiting our big mountains in Vermont. But as the season went on, it just didn’t snow. Half the lifts everywhere were closed. Naturally, we started to feel less excited about the long drives, the long lines, and the always-going-up prices. Many of our fam are beginners, too, so it just wasn’t worth going out anymore.

So then we started visiting smaller mountains. Wow! What a difference! Not only were they closer to NYC, there were no lines and they were WAY less expensive than the big mountains. Like finding a $20 in your pocket during laundry. Felt that good. And that’s how our Lifty program was born, shuttle trips and one consistent price to spend a few hours learning, practicing and shredding at local mountains. The snow never came. But Covid did.

Climate change and Covid stole our season. But it gave us a new way to enjoy winter for future seasons. We discovered that we didn’t have to travel far for fun times, with dozens of smaller mountains close by, open for business to beginners, where we were able to visit 2 or 3 of them for the cost of 1 big mountain. So even if climate change steals our snow again, our winter can still be lit with Lifty and the responsible fam who join us to our local mountains.

See how it went down last season and join us next time!
